Banff’s First Female President

Meet our new President Alexandra Harris, Banff’s First female president, in our 45 year history, an achievement that Alex is very proud of, and so are we as a club. Alex is a Deputy head teacher at Turriff Primary School and devotes her spare time to the Club. Alex is also one of seven safeguarding tutors for Scottish Rugby, delivering training to coaches, committee members and volunteers across Scottish Rugby Clubs.

Alex started out at Banff RFC in 2010 when her son started with the minis and micros section, she went on to become a parent helper, helping the mini and micro convenor at festivals and weekends.

Alex has been with Banff RFC for 13 years and in that time has reprised a few roles at the club, including Secretary and Vice President, but her first main role that she carried out was as child protection officer. This role lead to her becoming the mini and micros convener for some time, working alongside Stephen Pirie, this role brought her the most amount of pleasure, as it was where here rugby journey had began with her son, as a rugby mum.

“Watching the players move up through the mini/micro section and developing their game and skills over festivals is such a pleasure. It is so nice to see some of them now who come back and start playing for our senior team.”

Alex has also taken great pleasure from watching the Mini and micro section over the years.

“Its been lovely watching our Minis and Micros grow over the years from 5 kids to 40 plus, over the 6 years that Steve and myself did (2nd stints for us both) Its now lovely to see that Mark and Louise are continuing to add and grow the section, our little players are our future players. ..”

As president Alex would like to see the number of members at the club grow across all sections and a greater use of the clubhouse for both members and the wider community.

“We have such an amazing facility and would be great to get more use out of it both through club members and the local community”

Alex would like to wish our first team all the best for the season ahead and had these words to say to the players.

“I hope the seniors to go out each week, with the strongest team possible, have fun and win games, You got this!! This is our season to shine.”

Alex, like all of us, is looking forward to the 45th anniversary celebrations and the dinner dance on the 16th of September in aid of Myname5doddie, we are hoping to raise a huge amount of money for the charity, there are still tickets available for the event if anyone would still like to purchase.

Good Luck Alex in your Presidency from all at Banff RFC.
