Banff RFC to host 45th Dinner with Craig Chalmers as special guest!

CHARITY AUCTION WITH GUEST SPEAKER CRAIG CHALMERS IN AID OF MY NAME’5 DODDIE CHARITY EVENT ON THE 16TH SEPTEMBER.

Banff RFC are extremely excited to announce our guest speaker for our 45th Anniversary Dinner, Ball and Auction in aid of MyName5Doddie Foundation. We have managed to secure former Scotland, British Lion and Barbarian, Craig Chalmers. Craig secured 60 International Caps for Scotland in his career and scored 166 points at Fly half, he represented the British Lions in 1989 on their tour of Australia where he played in the first test. We are so proud that Craig has chosen to come and be our guest speaker at an event that is raising money for a charity that Craig holds dear to his heart, in January of this year Craig cycled 550 plus miles with several other rugby legends in aid of Myname5doddie Foundation. Craig also has his own just giving page set up in aid of the Doddie foundation at present he has raised £11,000. Craig has been campaigning with a petition to get one of the stands at Murrayfield stadium renamed to the Doddie Weir Stand as a long lasting tribute to the great man. Craig and Doddie both played for Melrose ltd, a club where Craig went back to after his playing career to coach, Craig and Doddie also played together for Scotland.
Our 45th Anniversary dinner is taking place on the 16TH September at the Fife Lodge, Banff Scotland, tickets are £40. Our Compere for the evening will be Dave Edwards former sports journalist for the P&J. Former Press and Journal Sports editor Jack Nixon will also be travelling to the event especially and raising a toast to our club. The event will celebrate the 45 year history of Banff RFC and a celebration of some of its current and former members including founder George Webster.
The evening will comprise of a two course dinner, followed by after dinner speaker Craig Chalmers and then an auction, with all proceeds going to the MyName5Doddie Foundation, music on the evening will be provided by local Banff band ”Wonderland” The star item being auctioned on the night is a Beautiful bust of Doddie in his famous tartan, which was lovingly created by renowned artist Jan Miller of Penicuik, there are several other items of note being auctioned, including an Ireland Rugby shirt signed by the World Cup squad 2023, a signed Scotland shirt, a Doddie cycling shirt and many other items. If you would like to bid on any of the items before the event, Banff RFC are taking closed bids these can be forwarded to the club.
